WHAT IS A MULTI-COURT?

A multi-court is designed to accommodate all your favorite sports and games in a space 1/4 the size of a tennis court. A standard tennis court is 60′ x 120′ (7200 sq. ft.), while an average multi-court is 30′ x 60′ (1800 sq. ft.).

WHAT SIZE ARE MULTI-COURTS? WHAT SIZE SPACE DO YOU NEED?

Lining and color design are usually a family decision, but our multi-courts most often have one set of game lines for paddle tennis, pickleball, foam tennis, tennis, badminton, speedminton, and volleyball. The perimeter playing lines are 20′ x 50′ (a scaled down singles tennis design) on courts over 60′ and 20′ x 44′ on courts under 60′ in length. On courts more than 30′ wide, a 2′ doubles line may be added on each side for foam and short tennis doubles.

WHAT ARE THE PLAYING LINES OF COMMON PADDLE AND RACQUET GAMES?

(i.e. paddle tennis, pickleball, short tennis, foam tennis, badminton, etc.) Multi-courts are custom designed to fit any space, sports interests, and family budget. The dimensions that best accommodate the widest range of sports and games (12+) range between 25′ x 60′ (1500 sq. ft.) and 35′ x 75′ (2625 sq. ft.). We can build many smaller and larger courts. A popular size is 28′ x 46′ (1280 sq. ft.) but the average is about 30′ x 60′. · Families with a favorite paddle or racquet sport may want only the official lining of that sport installed, and we are happy to accommodate. Pickleball lines are 20′ x 44′, badminton doubles are 20′ x 44′, short and foam tennis are 20′ x 50′, and paddle tennis are 20′ x 50′.

WHAT ARE THE OFFICIAL DIMENSIONS OF A TENNIS COURT?

60′ x 120′ (7200 sq/ft.) overall. Play lines for singles are 27′ x 78′ and 36′ x 78′ for doubles.

HOW DO YOU PLAY TENNIS ON A MULTI- COURT 1/4 THE SIZE OF A TENNIS COURT?

By using a low-energy tennis ball that compresses on impact restricts the velocity and distance. These balls let players enjoy the same experience they would have on a full-sized tennis court with a high-compression ball. Low-energy tennis balls are used by USTA professionals to teach tennis to young children. You can use regulation tennis racquets on our multi-courts but our customers find the game more enjoyable with 21″ – 24″ junior tennis racquets.

IF WE JUST WANT A HALF COURT FOR BASKETBALL DOES DUNKSTAR® OFFER IT?

Yes, DunkStar builds half and full court basketball courts. Our most popular half-court dimensions are 30′ x 30′, 30′ x 40′, and 30′ x 50′. Our most popular full courts are 35′ x 55′, 30′ x 60′, 35′ x 65′, 40′ x 70′, 46′ x 75′, 50′ x 80′, 54′ x 94′ and 56′ x 104′.

WHICH FENCING DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR A RESIDENTIAL TENNIS COURT?

We do have some general suggestions, but in the end, it depends on how the court is configured, the adjacent topography, proximity to neighbors, and skill level of players who will use the court. Unless there is a safety concern or nearby hillside we encourage customers to use a 10′ high containment on both ends of the court and a 30′ return, 10′ high, along the sides of the court. This arrangement uses about 30% less fencing than a full enclosure. For example, a 60′ x 120′ court fenced this way uses 240 linear feet of fence, while a full enclosure uses 360 linear feet. This design reduces costs yet contains most errant shots. Also, open sides make the court look better and feel less confined.

If there is a severe slope or close neighbor on one side, you can use 10′ fencing on that side only. Another option for full enclosures is to use 10′ high fencing on the ends and a mix of heights on the sides. Sides that are 10′ high at the ends, but drop to 5′ high toward the middle of the court (about 30′ from each end) look great.
